Happy New Year Yosemite Style

DSC04134 Yosemite - Merced River and El Capitan

Yesterday my husband and I returned from our brief trip to Yosemite National Park. We felt so fortunate that a snow storm during our last night there produced a wondrous winter wonderland. This new layer of pristine snow seemed a fitting way to greet the New Year. Here’s a toast to a fresh start, a clean slate, a chance to break trail.

  3. Oh Dutchbaby, Ansel Adams would be proud. You are the most fortunate of people to spend days this week in Yosemite ending with snow. I am glad you, my dear, are the one who could show us!

Thank you for Mairi Campbell, how perfectly lovely and Old World. Here's to a New Year - connected with the Old in hopeful and wise ways.

  4. Heavens, those photographs are gorgeous!! I particularly love the third one with the mist. Stunning.

No wonder Ansel Adams spent his latter years pretty much all the time in Yosemite!

  9. What a treat to see Yosemite in the snow. I went there in summer, many years ago, and back-packed with my new husband. I remember how the air smelled so green, so fresh. I wish you a great 2010 with much happiness and success in anything you wish to undertake.

    Dear Ruth,

  20. Dear Marilyn,
Last spring we took a photo walk that took us to many places where Ansel Adams photographed his famous images. Some of these photos were taken from the same locations. I hope you make it to Yosemite one day.

    Dear Middle Aged Woman Blogging,
Visiting Yosemite in winter is fantastic because there are no huge crowds and it gives you great reason to bundle up and sit in front of a big fire.

    Dear Relyn,
Gee golly, thanks. Thank you also for sending Lubna. Happy New Year to you!
