I don't know if I'm supposed to remain wordless on wordless Wednesday, but I do like these little memorials to John Lennon. I was listening to some commentary on the television tonight by someone who knew Lennon well, and he said that one of the distinguishing characteristics of the man was that he always spoke the truth of what he felt. It's sad to know that so few people today have that virtue.
I do like the Imagine mosaic with a Peace symbol in flowers – when did you take it? When we went to NYC in September 2008 there were many roses on the mosaic and when we went again last October there were only dead leaves, was your photo recent? There are always so many people around it. It is hard to take a picture because people stand in front of it and want their pictures to be taken with it.
What a loss this was when this man left us. I have the same video on one of my post and every time I listen to him it makes me cry.
Dear George, Wordless Wednesdays are a convenient excuse for me to do some quick posts, but in this case, I thought the format was particularly fitting.
I of course invite your response and appreciate it immensely. Yes, it's very sad that truth is a scarce commodity. My husband and I watched the Lennon PBS documentary with great interest and nostalgia.
Dear Vagabonde, I took these pictures in July 2008. I rented an apartment on the Upper West Side for three weeks while my daughter was taking a summer course at the School for Visual Arts. You are right, it is very difficult to get an unobstructed photo of this mosaic, that's why I chose the Dutch angle on the second image.
Yes, losing Lennon at such a young age was devastating.

I can't believe he was only 40 when he died! I've never seen the memorial, but it is quite lovely decorated with flowers.
