  2. Lickable art. LOL. My girls and I are stunned and amazed. The Starry Night was our favorite at first, but the detain in the Mona Lisa won us over. Just Wow.

  3. You've done it again. You find some amazing stuff. As an avid beader, jelly beans are hardly a step once removed......
and taste a whole lot better! ;~)

  8. It would be a sin to eat those paintings, DB...kinda like rain on sidewalk chalk art!!! I sure enjoyed listening (and watching) Natalie Cole's video!

  9. Oh! I can't believe what I'm missing! Darn it. I sure could use some of this sunshine to brighten these gray days.

Two of my favorite songs. Thank you.

  10. Van Gogh's paintings are perfect for jelly bellies! And rats, mine are at the office, and I'm working from home today.

The Don McLean-Van Gogh video is wonderful, so beautifully timed with the paintings and lyrics.

And thanks, because I found a painting I want to pair with a Rilke reading and hadn't figured it out yet! (the church at Auvers)

  12. Ps
Jellybellys are one of my guilty pleasures. I don't care for Jellybeans but am basically mad for Jellybellys. Good thing they are expensive!

  14. Dear tchesney,
I love popcorn and coconut the best. The free samples kept me from licking the artwork, plus the artist and the throngs of people surrounding them.

  15. Dear Margaret Bednar,
I love visualizing your girls and you salivating at this art. It is hard to choose a favorite; I think I like the cupcake best. I didn't see it in person, I found it on Kristen Cumings' website, but I think the Jelly Belly shape and colors lend themselves to pop art.

  16. Dear CC,
I wonder whether I would end up with any pieces left if I were to try to make a mosaic out of Jelly Bellies.

  17. Dear Kala,
I had never seen anything like this before either. Cupcakes and Jelly Belly candies would be a great combination!

Do you think Leonardo would have approved?

  20. Dear Ginnie,
I'm with you about eating these Jelly Belly candies.

I love Natalie Cole's rendition of "Mona Lisa". Since this post was about emulations, I thought it was appropriate to feature Natalie's version. I think her Daddy would have been very, very proud!

  21. Dear Susan,
Next year for certain - you and me, at the Fancy Food Show!

  22. Dear Ruth,
Yes, Van Gogh looks great this way! I was thinking that Andy Warhol would look great in Jelly Belly too!

I hope to carve out more time to visit the incredible Rilke blog that you and Lorenzo host.

  23. Dear Constance,
I can just imagine what you and your mom would create when unleashed with a room full of Jelly Belly candies!

I love to eat them too, and strongly dislike all other jelly beans.

  26. This makes me think of Sloane's recent school project. She wrote a biography of Ronald Reagan and created a diorama of his Oval Office. She and Jeffrey sculpted and carved the Resolute desk. It was complete with a little bowl of jellybeans. Cool, hunh? I can't wait to show her your pictures of jellybeans as art.

  27. Dear Relyn,
Very cool! I had to look up what the Resolute desk was - very interesting.

If Sloane is ever in the Bay Area, the Jelly Belly factory is right here across the highway from the Six Flags amusement and wildlife park. They give a tour with free samples.
