Happy New Year Yosemite Style

DSC04134 Yosemite - Merced River and El Capitan

Yesterday my husband and I returned from our brief trip to Yosemite National Park. We felt so fortunate that a snow storm during our last night there produced a wondrous winter wonderland. This new layer of pristine snow seemed a fitting way to greet the New Year. Here’s a toast to a fresh start, a clean slate, a chance to break trail.

Thank you for visiting dutchbaby and for your comments, your friendship, and for publishing your blogs that nourish my soul throughout the year. I end 2009 with a beautiful Scottish rendition of Auld Lang Syne sent to me by one of my book club sisters.

Happy New Year to you all!

Happy New Year, Dutchbaby!
what a wonderful start...thank you...

Oh Dutchbaby, Ansel Adams would be proud. You are the most fortunate of people to spend days this week in Yosemite ending with snow. I am glad you, my dear, are the one who could show us!

Thank you for Mairi Campbell, how perfectly lovely and Old World. Here's to a New Year - connected with the Old in hopeful and wise ways.

Heavens, those photographs are gorgeous!! I particularly love the third one with the mist. Stunning.

No wonder Ansel Adams spent his latter years pretty much all the time in Yosemite!

ps I FINALLY got the chocolate you spoke about. I was waiting for a need to get awesome cheese at Murray's and I did so for New Years... will post in the next couple of days!

Your photos of Yosemite bring back memories of another photographer that photographed Yosemite, Ansel Adams. Lovely. Someday I must go there.

Just by accident I saw this blog, I was at Ruth's.
These pictures are a pure delight, your blog is a delight, I will bookmark your blog and will look into it some more, I am off work for 2 days so that gives me some time.
Right now it is snowing in the Netherlands too, but it is nothing in comparison to your fabulous pictures.
Thank you for showing them.
Happy New Year, een Gelukkig Nieuwjaar.

What a treat to see Yosemite in the snow. I went there in summer, many years ago, and back-packed with my new husband. I remember how the air smelled so green, so fresh. I wish you a great 2010 with much happiness and success in anything you wish to undertake.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. A happy 2010 to you and your loved ones and blogger friends. I've noticed Relyn mention you often, but I think it is only today that I hopped across here. Needless to say, will be a more regular visitor.

Dear Susan,
Thank you very much for your compliment! I'm not sure Ansel Adams would have been proud but I was sure trying to channel him.

Dear mellissashook,
It truly was a great beginning! Happy New Year!

Dear Ruth,
I can't tell you how many times I exclaimed how lucky we were. When we awoke to all that glorious snow, I could hardly believe it. I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing this winter wonderland through my lens.

Dear jay,
Yosemite is a magical place that could convince anyone to spend the rest of their life there. It's practically impossible to take a bad photo there.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Kris,
Happy New Year to you too!

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion about the chocolate. I have no idea if it's any good or not but the cheese platter you assembled looks fantastic.

Dear Marilyn,
Last spring we took a photo walk that took us to many places where Ansel Adams photographed his famous images. Some of these photos were taken from the same locations. I hope you make it to Yosemite one day.

Beste Astrid,

Welkom op dutchbaby! I'm so glad you popped over for a look and I'm happy you enjoyed your stay. I followed your link and saw all the "lekkere" Dutch foods. Do you have a blog too?

Dear Ruth,
Thanks for the halo effect of synch-ro-ni-zing.

Dear Yolanda,
Thank you. I know you won't be disappointed if you visit Yosemite.

Dear Vagabonde,
You are so right about the fresh air in Yosemite and the water tastes great too! Happy New Year to you too!

Dear Lubna,
Welcome to dutchbaby! Any friend of Relyn's is a friend of mine! I'm so glad you came to visit. Happy New Year to you!

Dear Middle Aged Woman Blogging,
Visiting Yosemite in winter is fantastic because there are no huge crowds and it gives you great reason to bundle up and sit in front of a big fire.

Dear Relyn,
Gee golly, thanks. Thank you also for sending Lubna. Happy New Year to you!

Dear Elisabeth,

Dear Castle,
We were so fortunate to start this decade with memories of Yosemite near the surface. I hope it stopped raining in Andalusia. Happy New Year, Lala.
