Dexter Lake in Oregon

DSC06135 Lowell Covered Bridge

I just returned from a quick trip to Oregon where I found the Lowell Covered Bridge along the south side of Dexter Lake...

The lakeside trees hosted tiny wildflowers at their feet:

Trout Lilies (thank you, Susan!) bowed their heads shyly...

...and Shooting Stars shared their space with daisies:

Would you like to wish upon a Shooting Star?

I've never been to Oregon and I've wanted to go for years. Now I want to go even more! Such a gorgeous, peaceful place! Your pictures are awesome.

What you thought was trillium are actually trout lilies, or at least that's what we call them in this part of the country.

I like my veri word: duckles.

Hello Postcards and Coasters,
Dexter Lake is about 20 minutes outside Eugene - I hope you have a chance to stop there next time you fly into Oregon.

Dear Susan,
Thank you for the trout lily id! Now that I look at the leaves, they don't look anything like trillium. I will duck behind the excuse of being sleep-deprived. I've had to rise between 4:30 and 5 far too often this week.

Dear melissashook,
You're welcome! Even though it was stinging cold, the mist made the photos more interesting.

Oh my goodness, how gorgeous your area truly is! The bridge pictures are so dreamy, like in those movies, and the flowers are fantastic.

Thank you for your kind words and visit..

What beautiful shots! I especially love the shots of the bridge and the marina. I have always wanted to visit Oregon but your photos made me move it up higher on my "places to visit" list!

Thank you for stopping by! I did not know about Napoleon using three bees in his flag while in Elba.

Gorgeous. The mist did make it so moody didn't it. A treat to see all these photos. Thanks

Beautiful photography! I have not been to Dexter Lake. There are only a few covered bridges left in Oregon and this is one I have not seen. Now I must go exploring.

There's so much beauty everywhere! But I really love the foggy Lake Dexter and that bridge! Glorious beauty!

Love the image of the covered bridge.

Ohhhhh splendid photographs. That first one was all I needed. The covered bridge, in fog, cropped narrow. I LOVE IT, miss-good-taste. :)

I lived in Ashland for one semester, and I did love the mountains, the fog, the people, the culture. I could definitely live there. But I laughed at their bumper stickers at the time: "HAVE A NICE VISIT.

ALL the photos are GOR GEOUS - not just the top one. :)

I totally agree with sister Ruth, DB: all the photos are GORGEOUS! What a beautiful place!

Dear Mumsy,
This bridge is in Oregon; I live in California. I don't recall seeing any covered bridges here so this is a novelty to me. I haven't seen "Bridges of Madison County" but I imagine it looks a little like this.

Dear Ms. Bake-it,
Oregon is a very beautiful place. I spent Sunday in Portland; I highly recommend the Benson Hotel in Portland.

Dear Maggie,
Moody - yes! My photos of the bridge without the fog were not anywhere as interesting.

Dear Marilyn,
Thank you! I would be curious to see the others in Oregon. I don't recall seeing any of them here in California. Maybe in the Sierra Mountains.

Dear lisaschaos,
There is indeed beauty everywhere! I love trying to capture them through my lens.

Dear Ruth,
I'm so glad you liked that first shot. I felt that I had to crop away the top and bottom to give more importance to the bridge. I'm glad it's to your taste. :)

The Oregonians lost out when they asked you to only visit and Michigan is all the richer for it.

Dear Ginnie,
I just love having sisters visit here! Thank you for your kind words.

Would you consider selling that third picture down of the bridge and the one of the dock in fog? Really love them and have been thinking about them ever since you posted.

Dear Susan,
I am flattered beyond belief that you wish to purchase my photo. All my photos are free for the taking as long as they are used for non-commercial purposes.

Dear Johnny Nutcase,
Thank you. I was so happy to stumble upon these wildflowers.

Dear Relyn,

Thanks! This bridge is about 20 minutes outside Eugene. Maybe you and Robin would like to make a side trip on your way down to California this summer.
