Today I would like to honor the military servicemen who served our great country in the past and those currently fighting for us in the Middle East. Your service continues to protect the constitution that made last week’s election and the promise of a bloodless transition of leadership possible. I thank you, and all others whose lives you touch, from the bottom of my heart!
I actually did remember it was a school holiday today. The last time my son had a school holiday, I forgot and woke him up at 7 a.m. He was not amused. This time he took a precautionary measure:
How well does he know his mother?

Ever since I figured out that Nov. 11 was an actual holiday and not just because it's my birthday, I've had a special affection for veterans who have served our country well. I always think back to Armistice Day, the day that was supposed to mark the end of all wars, which sadly has not come to pass.
But on a lighter note, that son of yours cracks me up. And yes, he is very smart indeed!
What a Veteran's Day we've had. This is such an incredible holiday. I was so proud today because my Dad came to our school assembly to be honored. We invited each veteran family member to come. It was an amazingly touching thing to see the row of veterans sitting there. Some were old, old, some were so young. It was a beautiful thing to hear our children thanking those amazing old men who have seen so much.
Dear Birthday Girl,
I heard so many poignant stories on the radio today; it's great that we have this holiday to laud our veterans.
As for my son; I think it's great that he took matters in his own hands :)
Happy birthday!
Dear Relyn,
What a special day for your family. Did you happen to get a photo of all the veterans? Sounds like a great, meaningful assembly.
Ha ha! How cute is your son! Yes, a very special day, both in the US and in Europe.
Dear Paris Parfait,
Tangobaby can attest to the impish character of my son!
As I get older I realize how important these holidays are.
