They are beautiful, but I managed to kill a beautiful 15 year old Christmas Cactus this year, learning too late that it did not want a new larger pot..... it was happy severely potbound in the old one.
This is one of the things I still remember and love about California...all the succulents! When you don't get a lot of rain, they are definitely the way to go. You have presented them so pleasingly, too.
Dear Ginnie, I do love the variety of all the succulents that grow wild here.
I remember my mother nursing a tiny ice plant as a houseplant in Amsterdam and how she celebrated when it bloomed. Then we came to California and saw ice plants line miles and miles of freeway median strips, often blooming profusely. It was a true wonder to see.
Dear Relyn, I shot these at the San Francisco Design Center, which is the wholesale furniture mart. None of these are my mother's but you may recognize the large paddle plant succulent in the last photo.
Dear Kala, I only photographed these succulents; I did not do any of the designs. The first shot is a closeup of a vertical wall of succulents.
Dear Susan, I love hens and chicks too, especially because they are so easy to grow.
Dear Kris, Succulents would be a great choice because they don't need much watering.
Dear margie, If only! No, these photos were taken at the San Francisco Design Center.

Beautiful succulents! I love succulents when in the desert or warm climates. They don't do as well here in Oregon. My husband keeps trying though.

INSPIRING. I want to be so full, so organized, so aesthetically pleasing, so moisturized!

Such amazing and varied color in that first shot. You've made these succulents quite lovely!

Dear Marilyn,
Bless your husband; I bet he's an optimist!
Dear CC,
I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful Christmas cactus! Who would have known that it was going to be unhappy with more space?
Dear Ruth,
I think your farm is all that!
