A Foggy Night at AT & T Park

IMG_5585 After the win

Our friends Jane and Joe invited my husband and me to a San Francisco Giants game on Wednesday night. It was one of those magical, perfect evenings at the best address in baseball.

AT & T Park was packed and the crowd was revved up because we were playing our rivals: the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The fog began to roll in, giving the stadium that only-in-San-Francisco look...

My favorite player this season is #17 Aubrey Huff.

He brought in the last run, giving the Giants a 2-1 win.

Thank you, Jane and Joe, for a winning evening!

Last night, for the first time since May 6th, the Giants pulled ahead to the top of the National League West. Woohoo - Go Giants!

These are great images! I love the clarity and lighting you captured!

My husband is in New York City for work this week and his work got him tickets to a Mets game last night...the only problem was a tornado went through and all the power was out so they had to cancel the game...I guess there is always next time LOL

I'm not a baseball fan, Dutchbaby, but you could make me one. The night photos, especially the first one, are stunning. It must be great fun to take photos at nice around a lighted sports stadium.

Dear Dutchbaby,
I'm smiling because first of all, these are the most tremendous shots of the ATT stadium and your giants! I've never seen the stadium before. It's so mod. Looking forward to sharing your shots with my husband.
Also, I smile is because Pete is SO excited about the Tx rangers!

Thank you for your great dream interpenetration's!! I too have a great Chinese dream book, but haven't looked the symbols to this dream. After reading yours, don't think I will~

WE will go to Nola in later Oct, not Sept as planned. It's going to hit 100° here tomorrow & the next!

How is your daughter doing?

Your photos are tremendous, I agree! It must be great to watch the fog come in during the game like that.

I used to watch the Tigers with my dad, but I don't pay too much attention now. I like having it on, while Don watches, then he can make me look when something exciting happens. :)

Oh my...fond memories of all my games with the Atlanta Braves, DB! These are fabulous night shots. I can feel it all. Congratulations on your National League West status. I need to now check out the Braves in their division. Will we play each other??? Wouldn't that be something! :)

That first shot is gorgeous! You should sell that to AT&T! Glad you had a great time. I think I could actually enjoy baseball in that stadium!

Dear tammymcchesney,
What a shame about your husband's Mets tickets.

I spent three weeks in New York during the summer of 2008 and had the great fortune of seeing the the Mets and the Yankees in the last season before both teams moved to their new stadiums.

When I worked in San Francisco our company offered us a trip, once a year, to Candlestick Park. I remember watching Willie Mays playing there – fond memories. It must have been 1965 I think and it was a good season for the Giants. It was a long time before that nice stadium.

Dear George,
I'm convinced that you don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy this ballpark. It has an electrifying atmosphere that can be enjoyed by anybody.

Dear Constance at rochambeau,
If you and your Pete are ever planning a trip to San Francisco, please come during baseball season. Maybe we four can all go to a Giants game together.

It is exciting to see the Rangers do so well. How exciting would it be if the Giants and Rangers are matched up in the World Series?

My daughter's doing great; she survived another set of midterms. She is hoping the heat and humidity will pass soon.

I'm envious you will be in NOLA shortly. I highly recommend both Herb Saint and August!!!

Dear Ruth,
Yes, it is very nice to watch a little bit of fog come into the ballpark, not like the huge fog banks that used to roll into Candlestick Park.

How nice to have Don filter the games for you can enjoy the nuggets of the game. I guess you don't see too many plays during a low-scoring pitching duel.

Geez. This made me teary just looking at those delicious San Francisco photos. Even as a Dodger fan, we always HATED when the road trip would take us to Candlestick Park. But, looking at these pictures, and the game, and the end-of-season thrills and spills....it was perfect. Thanks for doing this. I will be back. EFH

Dear Ginnie,
The Giants lost their game last night, so as of last night they are neck and neck with the Braves for the wild card. Can you believe it? The Braves are six games behind Philadelphia, but the Giants are only a half game behind the Padres. We may see each other in the playoffs if you make the wild card and we clinch our division! If so, we will have to place a friendly cross-Atlantic bet.

Dear Susan,
I would love to go to a game here with you. I can guarantee a great time.

Dear Kala,
Thank you! I just love that the stadium is right on the bay.

Dear jeannette,
Thank you for your kind words. I like shooting at night but it's difficult to keep things in focus.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear margie,
Thank you. Do you get to see much baseball in your neck of the woods?

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Vagabonde,
You have to wonder if you were at Candlestick during one of those bone-chilling nights, whether your company was rewarding you or punishing you.

Lucky you to have seen Willie Mays play in San Francisco. I started watching the Giants when Willie McCovey was always the lead-off hitter and very often he hit a home run in the first inning.

Dear Expat from Hell,
I guess I'll forgive you for being a D*@ger fan. I have to say that I don't miss The 'Stick one bit.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Giants. Only one more week of the regular season.

Welcome to Dutchbaby!
