Yowsah! Glad they did it in Texas and in front of Bush II & I. Hope the Dems do as well in the Mid-Terms.

First time since 1954. My father has been a Giant fan, and Dodger hater, ever since many decades ago at the age of eight, attending a game at the old Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, my Brooklyn-born dad had the bad idea of cheering for something one of the Giants did on the field. An irate Dodgers fan promptly smushed a rotten tomato in his face.

So ever since that fateful day he and his offspring have been condemned to follow the Giants. My dad was actually at the Polo Grounds in 1954 when Willie Mays made the famous "The Catch" on a long Vic Wertz drive in the year the Giants last won the Series. Actually, that was the only World Series game he ever attended (I know, I know, there are officially listed on the census around 25 million people who swear they were at the stadium that day, but my dad really was).

Anyway you best believe he was happy Monday night when they won it. And I for him...

Like California Girl, the mild disappointment of not having done it at home is offset by the vindictive joy of doing it in front of Bush Sr and Jr.

It tears me up to do this, but I have to send my best wishes and congratulations to you, DB! A very well-played series. One that we Rangers fans will ponder for the next four months. Best to you. EFH

Dear Susan,
That is very nice of you! YAY indeed!

Dear tammymcchesney,
Thank you for your kinds words about my photo.

As you can see, I added a second photo. I was hoping to find a more celebratory photo in my photostream, but when I first posted this, I was just not feeling well enough to hunt for one. Now that I'm feeling so much better, I took the time to find the image with the fireworks behind the scoreboard.

Dear CC,
Glad to have beaten the Phillies and give you some peace :)

Dear California Girl,
I must confess, I did take delight in watching the Bush's faces get longer and longer as the series progressed. I would trade in all the World Series in history for a do-over of the Bush years.

Dear Kala,
Thanks! We had a brief family debate whether I should have kept the red touches in the photo. My husband didn't like it, but my son did.

Dear Lorenzo,
In my opinion, you descended from baseball royalty if you grew up with your father's recollections of Willie Mays' catch. At first I thought that you or he might have been mistaken about the location of the 1954 World Series because I only know of the Polo Grounds in the Golden Gate Park. Now I know that San Francisco's Polo Grounds are the fourth.

I'm so sorry that you had to suffer the torture of being a Giants fan for all these years. I share your pain; I've been tortured since the early seventies at Candlestick Park.

I know the merchants in San Francisco dearly wanted the Giants to lose one more game in Texas so that everyone would return for the final games. I was happy enough to smash a virtual rotten tomato in Bush's face. Vindictive joy? Moi?

Dear Expat from Hell,
Thank you very much for your generous congratulations. That is mighty gentlemanly of you.

The Giants were lucky that they were the underdogs. The Rangers had to live up to very high expectations and that's always difficult.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Vagabonde,
Ah yes, I remember that you used to live in San Francisco. It's been a very long wait for this win.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Relyn,
Thank you for thinking of this crazy Giants fan during the series. It was so exciting, and unbelievable, to watch.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Sherri,
Yes, I think we did get them off to a good start during Spring Training. I hope we can go to Scottsdale again this coming spring. I will call you if we do. It would be great to do another Taliesin West tour.

Dear Constance at rochambeau,
Yes, life is very, very happy! I am still pinching myself.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear lisaschaos,
I think they're pretty cool too. I like seeing kids climbing all over them.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Ginnie,
I am basking in it all! Sweet victory! Buster Posey said he wanted to win it again next year. I'm all for that! A 56-year wait was a bit over the top.

Chère lorilaire,

C'est moi qui vous remercie! Profiter d'une belle journée d'automne
