Pacific Coast Evergreen Wreaths and Garlands

IMG_9779 Pacific Evergreen Wreathmakers

My favorite place to buy garlands, wreaths, or fresh greens is Pacific Coast Evergreen at the San Francisco Flower Mart.  When I was there last month, the talented wreath-making team was assembling fresh magnolia-leaf garlands with pink peppercorns and eucalyptus knobs.

I ordered several six-foot magnolia garlands with pomegranates, incense cedar, and pink peppercorns and then had them shipped to Houston. They make a convenient and dramatic centerpiece for the Thanksgiving table. The magnolia leaves are shiny and green on one side...

... and a velvety brown on the other side. Other six-foot garlands graced the banister of the staircase and the fireplace mantle in another room. The colors will stay true for the entire holiday season.

Pacific Coast Evergreen also offers other designs like this wreath with rose-hips, china berries, oak leaves, and eucalyptus leaves...

The client who ordered these last spring provided all the ingredients for these small wreaths. They used geranium leaves, two types of berzillia berries, and foxtail grass. For a closer look, click here.

One word, DB: opulent. But in the best sense of the word. What a fabulous table setting. Your artistic flare must penetrate everywhere you touch.

Gloves, a wool hat and one tall cup of coffee. SF Flower Market at 5:00am. Early bird gets the worm and the cream of the crop!

Everytime I pop by I learn something new. Pink peppercorns. Never heard of them before. Many thanks for the introduction. As for the arrangements, well, you know, you've converted me to floristry, even if it's still only from the spectator point of view.

Greetings from London.

Dear jeannette,
Yes, the firs especially smell great!

Dear Chesney,
My sister-in-law has lots of beautiful accessories for the table. It was fun to pull it all together.

I can't explain why your openid did not work. I don't think I changed anything.

Dear lisa,
You are right, it is quite a task and it takes more material than you would guess. Once you've made your own wreath, you will never complain about the price of a store-bought one.

Dear Dutchbaby,
Such a thoughtful gift to send to Houston for the holiday!! The table looks stellar. All of the wreaths above are beautiful in a natural way. The way I like them.

I am late arriving at your wreath festival, but it is still as fresh as ever. Every bit of material in these wreaths speaks to me, the eucalyptus, pepper berries, all of it is so earthily gorgeous. I feel like I'm back at Jacob Maarse in Pasadena where I used to wander and drool, and one year I watched them assemble 25 wreath gifts for someone's gift baskets. I asked who they were for: Julie Andrews. I was thrilled. :)

Your Thanksgiving table and room, your home, looks warm, loving and elegant. And I'm not one bit surprised.

Those are awesome creations. Thank you for taking these photos. You are a great marketing advocate for these folks.

Merry Christmas! Hope you are safe from the heavy rain and slides.

Dear Sherri,
Merry Christmas to you, your husband, and your precious little daughter!

Dear Susan,
I agree, great greenery can definitely take the place of flowers and they last so much longer. Merry Christmas, Susan!

Dear Kala,
I love using China berries in my arrangement. They always create a playful profile.

Dear Ginnie,
I always love your one-word summaries! Also, you may have noticed that more and more people are calling me DB - and you are the one who started that trend!

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Marilyn,
I love the pomegranate/magnolia combination also; they are similar in scale. Merry Christmas!

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Laurie Chaney,
Ah, I recognize the voice of experience here! Let's meet there some time next year. I'll elbow you for the best picks :)

Dear Cuban,
Pink peppercorns are a delicious mild peppercorn often sold as an ingredient in gourmet peppercorn medleys.

Dear Yoli,
I wish you a very happy Christmas Day!

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Constance,
Merry, Merry Christmas to you too! I love the wreath you have above your mirror - is it by your front door? I adore the della robia look.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Relyn,
Wishing you, Jeffrey, and Sloane a wonderful Christmas Day.

Dear Ruth,
Thank you for telling me about Jacob Maarse (a good Dutch name:-D) I have made a note of it and will definitely pay a visit next time I'm in the Pasadena area. I bet those Julie Andrews wreath were gorgeous. She is so stylish!

The Thanksgiving table us sister-in-law's. My home is considerably smaller. Her home is all the things you say, because she is warm, loving, and elegant.

I hope you are enjoying your Christmas Day!

Dear Dutchbaby,
It was wonderful to hear your voice!
My mom loved these photos so much. I snagged a few for her to keep as inspiration. Is this ok?

Will call later to make sure.
