Hurricane Irene

DSC02183 Nathan's Hot Dogs

Hurricane Irene is threatening a full-force hit on the New York region. Low-lying areas like Coney Island are expected to be impacted the most. I hope the impact will be minimal and Nathan's will serve its famous original hot dogs soon...

My thoughts are with the people who will have to face Irene! Nature can be very cruel. We saw already what it did in other places.
Thanks for your visit.

How thoughtful of you to post good wishes for the people of the East Coast!

These are great photos! NYers are a tough breed and will survive, but let's hope that Irene veers off it's projected course.

Great photos.
We, on the right coast thank you for your thoughtful concern.

In your honor, we had our earthquake earlier this week. :~)

We are getting wind and rain here in the DC Metropolitan area but nothing like hurricane force winds... WHEW! Meanwhile, they are telling us to watch out for flooding in low areas and the District distributed free sandbags to anyone who wanted to make barricades along the rivers here.

LOVE your photos of Nathan's ... had one of those "original" dogs more years ago than I care to admit... as I recall.. it was pretty good! The baseball game shot is nice too but I especially like the close-up of the left field fence and light posts!

We watched CNN Int'l off-n-on all day yesterday, DB, hoping and praying for the best. I guess it could have been worse! Still, this stuff is getting pretty scary, isn't it!

It's certainly not a good situation, but I shudder to think how much worse it could have been.

Have never been to Nathan's, but hope they survived just fine.

That's horrible!
I hope you and your family are okay.

I hope you are okay after the storm.

Dear Reader Wil,
Thank you for your warm words.

Dear EG Wow!
Thank you.

Dear Patricia,
Thank you, Teacher, for your nice critique of my photos.

Most New Yorkers did survive, but it was difficult to watch the floods in the aftermath of the storm.

Dear CC,
I'm afraid that earthquake was part of our family tradition. The 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake fell on the Tuesday after our wedding day and the earthquake you just mentioned fell on the Tuesday after our niece's wedding day.

Dear Chesney,
Very kind of you.

Dear Constance,
And I'm thinking of you in the searing Texas heat. I did not realize that you were anywhere near the Bastrop fire. I'm so glad your house was not affected.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Victoria,
I hope you survived the ravages of Irene and that you did not need those sand bags.

Thanks for noticing that scoreboard shot. It was a bit tricky to focus with that net in front of me.

Dear Ginnie,
It's impressive how CNN keeps the world informed at all times. It must be both a comfort and a curse to be able to keep up with the news from across the Atlantic.

The ever-more-threatening weather patterns are a scary indeed.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Kala,
I'm glad for the many who were spared.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear Marilyn,
I believe Nathan's was spared because Irene lost steam and was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time she hit Coney Island beach.

Dear London Caller,
We are just fine because we are 3,000 miles away in California. Thanks for your concern.

Dutchbaby said...

Dear lisa,
Thank you; we were unaffected in California - thank goodness.
