Hurricane Irene is threatening a full-force hit on the New York region. Low-lying areas like Coney Island are expected to be impacted the most. I hope the impact will be minimal and Nathan's will serve its famous original hot dogs soon...
...and the single-A minor league team, The Brooklyn Cyclones, can resume their normal schedule...
... in their beautiful stadium.

My thoughts are with the people who will have to face Irene! Nature can be very cruel. We saw already what it did in other places.

We are getting wind and rain here in the DC Metropolitan area but nothing like hurricane force winds... WHEW! Meanwhile, they are telling us to watch out for flooding in low areas and the District distributed free sandbags to anyone who wanted to make barricades along the rivers here.
LOVE your photos of Nathan's ... had one of those "original" dogs more years ago than I care to admit... as I recall.. it was pretty good! The baseball game shot is nice too but I especially like the close-up of the left field fence and light posts!
We watched CNN Int'l off-n-on all day yesterday, DB, hoping and praying for the best. I guess it could have been worse! Still, this stuff is getting pretty scary, isn't it!
It's certainly not a good situation, but I shudder to think how much worse it could have been.
Have never been to Nathan's, but hope they survived just fine.

I'm afraid that earthquake was part of our family tradition. The 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake fell on the Tuesday after our wedding day and the earthquake you just mentioned fell on the Tuesday after our niece's wedding day.
